2007 The Way PhotosThe Servant Evangelism Kindness in Progress focus for the month of September at Cicero Christian Church was "Business Blast" - adopting a business in our community and showering them with simple acts of kindness. How fitting for Mephibosheth to take Agape' Therapeutic Riding Center for the Business Blast! Our day program baked a delicious "dump" cake to share God's Love with a deserving business that has given so much to the individuals we serve. Every participant took part in the baking...anywhere from directing us by reading the recipe (making sure we didn't leave anything out!), "dumping" the ingredients into the cake pan, stirring, cutting the butter...etc. We made cards by stamping a "horse" on the outside with our faithful "You've been served" labels. As soon as the cake was done, we all piled into the car and made our surprise delivery...of course when we pulled up, they thought they forgot to put us on the schedule! What a surprise it was for them to get dessert during their lunch meeting. We discovered just how hard it is to receive when you are used to giving...they wanted us to join them. We decided to take a walk and check out their new waterfall featureon grounds instead. Of course Chuck thinks we are all crazy and in his words have gone back to "Little House on the Prairie" when everyone shared with each other, but isn't that what God has called us to do?
